How to build a wedding day timeline

The order of a wedding day, hour by hour, and the buffers that keep it calm.

An open gold pocket watch, a white ranunculus boutonniere, a ring box with a gold band and blank cream cards on an ivory table.

A good timeline is a quiet one: nobody notices it, because everything simply happens. These are the rules we follow when we write one.

Start from the light

Find out when the sun sets on your date, and put the portraits in the hour before it. Everything else moves around golden hour.

Add buffers everywhere

Hair and makeup run late; so do photos. We add fifteen minutes before the ceremony and ten after every big moment.

Write it for everyone

Your timeline is also the vendors’ timeline. Ours have a line for each of them, so the band knows when to stop for the toasts.
